Peter Wytinck concentrates mainly on European law, Belgian and EU competition law, trade practices (including product labelling and product regulations), trademark law and commercial litigation.
With regard to European law, Peter Wytinck defends clients before the Court of Justice, the Court of First Instance, the European Commission (including the Merger Task Force), the Belgian national courts and administrative authorities (regarding a.o. the free movement of goods, mergers, cartel arrangements, state aid, trademark law and various EU Directives and Regulations).
He frequently advises on Belgian competition law issues and assists clients in the structuring of takeovers, joint ventures and contracts. He represents clients in the notification of contracts and concentrations, and in complaints and procedures before the Conseil de la concurrence (Belgian Competition Council) and Belgian courts of law.
Peter Wytinck has extensive experience in advising on problems concerning trade practices (labelling, advertising, joint offers, price reduction announcements, sales, etc.) and regularly pleads on these matters before the Belgian courts. His work on trademark matters mainly concerns litigation over areas of confusion and parallel imports before national and international courts (Benelux Court of Justice and Court of Justice).
Peter Wytinck has written numerous articles on Belgian and EU law in leading Belgian and European law reviews and is co-author of a number of books, including books on the EU Merger Regulation, on Belgian competition law and on trade practices. The redaction of the Belgian competition law review « Tijdschrift voor Belgische Mededinging » recently appointed Peter Wytinck as new editor in chief. As a member of the Belgian delegation he presented two reports on the implementation of specific EU legislation in Belgium at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy) in 1990 and 1992.
